Dr. Kaleb Stoppel is a financial advisor, community leader, author, speaker, and former educator whose experience surviving a school shooting reshaped his perspective on leadership, healing, and resilience. Today, he blends his background in education with his passion for mental health advocacy, sharing his story to inspire others and encourage conversations around hope, connection, and what matters most.
Shana Burgess, LMSW
Director of Prevention and Community Relations, Johnson County Mental Health Center
Speaker
Shana Burgess brings over 20 years of experience advancing mental health and suicide prevention through community-focused initiatives. As Director of Prevention and Community Relations at Johnson County Mental Health Center, she leads efforts to expand access to mental health resources, strengthen community engagement, and support overall wellbeing. With a Master of Social Work from University of Kansas, she leverages strategic communication and community mobilization to drive meaningful, lasting impact.
Ashley Dugan, MHSA, LMSW
Director of Mental and Behavioral Health Operations, University of Kansas Health System
Speaker
Ashley Dugan leads inpatient behavioral health programs focused on individuals with complex psychiatric needs and suicide risk, ensuring safe, compassionate care. Her work centers on strengthening operations, improving patient safety and outcomes, supporting staff wellbeing, and advancing system-wide access to mental health services. She also helps address social and financial barriers that impact mental health and continuity of care.
